Kit without housing price per speaker

A good floor-standing loudspeaker for around 100 EUR each: that was the aim of the Basic 100. It contains Visaton loudspeaker chassis: a Visaton DTW70 tweeter and a W100S woofer.

A 2-way crossover is used, which consists of a 2nd order high-pass filter (12 dB/octave) and a 2nd order low-pass filter (12 dB/octave). To further flatten the frequency response, an absorption circuit is used parallel to the tweeter and woofer.

The frequency response of the loudspeaker is quite flat between 70 and 13000 Hz, apart from a slight dip at 2 kHz. The decay spectrum (waterfall spectrum) shows a delayed decay behavior in the middle. The non-linear distortions remain almost consistently below 1% at 90 dB sound pressure (1m) above 120 Hz. These are good measurements for the price of the speaker.
