Celestion HiFi-PA 2x8/2 floorstanding speakers Kit with high-end crossover

Kit with high-end crossover without housing, price per speaker

HiFi-PA 2x8/2 is a two-way floor-standing loudspeaker. HiFi-PA 2x8/2 is a bass reflex loudspeaker with chassis from Celestion and Monacor. The loudspeaker contains the following loudspeaker chassis: - a Monacor MRH-180 tweeter with Celestion CDX1-1747 drive - two Monacor SP-8/150 PRO woofers The loudspeaker was developed by Bernd Timmermanns. The crossover consists of: - a 2nd order high pass (12 dB / octave) for the tweeter. - a 3rd order low pass (18 dB / octave) for the woofer. The frequency response of the loudspeaker is balanced. The decay spectrum is practically flawless. The non-linear distortions at medium volumes (90 dB, 1m) are below 0.6% above 100 Hz.

The high-end kit is equipped with baked varnish coils in the important places to reduce the microphonic effect (the current through the coil generates a magnetic field, which in turn sets the winding in motion. This movement induces voltages in the coil, which are added to the useful signal. The tighter the winding of the coil, the less the useful signal is distorted.) The capacitors for the Monacor MRH-180 with Celestion CDX1-1747 - where quality is particularly important - are high-quality Mundorf EVO oil MKP capacitors with 450 V.

Celestion speakers are a well-known brand in the world of guitar and bass amplification, famous for their high-quality sound and durability. Founded in 1924 in London, Celestion has a long history of producing speakers for a variety of applications, but they are particularly recognized for their guitar speakers. Their designs are widely regarded for their ability to shape tone, offering a range of frequencies that bring out the best in both clean and distorted sounds.

Some of their most popular models include:

  1. Celestion Vintage 30: This is one of their most iconic speakers. It’s often associated with high-gain rock and metal tones, with a punchy midrange, tight bass, and pronounced high-end that works well with overdriven tones.

  2. Celestion Greenback: Known for its classic British tone, the Greenback is often linked with the vintage sound of the '60s and '70s. It has a warm, creamy sound with less emphasis on bass compared to the Vintage 30.

  3. Celestion G12T-75: A bit more modern, this speaker is great for high-output amps and has a more aggressive, cutting sound with a strong midrange and high-end presence, making it a favorite for hard rock and metal.

  4. Celestion Alnico Blue: Famous for its smooth, vintage tone with a distinct chime. It’s great for classic rock, blues, and jazz players looking for that rich, warm sound with natural compression.

  5. Celestion Creamback: A great middle ground between the Vintage 30 and Greenback, offering a balanced tone that works for a wide variety of genres. It has a smoother, more vintage character than the V30 but with more clarity than the Greenback.

Celestion speakers are often used in high-end amplifiers like those from Marshall, Orange, Fender, and Vox, but they also make a variety of speakers for DIY amp builders and custom cabinets.
