The Queen Lia is a 2-way bass reflex loudspeaker with an Audaphon tweeter, which is framed by two Wavecor woofers. This T-H-T arrangement (also called d'Appolito arrangement) means that the sound radiation is similar to that of a point sound source. The excellent bass-midrange speakers from Wavecor's BD series provided the inspiration for a symmetrical speaker design based on D' Appolito. Housing construction 7 to 11 liters of housing volume are a good fit for the Wavecor WF120BD04, or around 22 liters with double configuration. This makes a slim column the ideal housing shape. Many customers accept this design as a pleasantly dimensioned piece of furniture. Crossover The filter circuit is very manageable thanks to the high quality of the chassis. Just seven components are responsible for dividing up the music signal. A coreless coil is the best solution for the Wavecor WF120BD04. This design reduces distortion at higher volumes and with a wire cross-section of 1.4 mm the internal resistance remains sufficiently low. For the high level of the tweeter you should reach into the ClarityCap drawer and add a few good capacitors. A baked varnish coil from Mundorf also further increases the sound quality. This investment is rewarded with the finest details and even more spatiality.
