The Cherlen 12/18 dB is a 2-way high-end bass reflex floor-standing loudspeaker with Air Motion Transformer. It uses the excellent Audaphon AMT 1i as a tweeter and the outstanding Morel TSCM 634 woofer. Separation is done with 2nd and 3rd order filters. If you are worried that the sound will disintegrate with steep filters, we recommend Cherlen with a 6 dB crossover. The crossover consists of a 3rd order high pass (18 dB / octave) for the tweeter. A suction circuit smooths the high frequency response by 6 kHz. A second order low pass (12 dB / octave) is used for the woofer. A suction circuit smooths the low frequency response by 800 Hz The frequency response of the loudspeaker is very linear. The decay spectrum is almost flawless. The nonlinear distortions at low volumes (85 dB, 1 m) are below 0.2% above 600 Hz and remain below 0.6% even at higher levels (95 dB, 1 m).

The high-end kit contains ClarityCap capacitors of the ESA type and Audaphon MKP CAP Superior. The coils are designed as baked varnish air coils and as Mundorf copper foil coils to reduce the microphonic effect (the current through the coil generates a magnetic field, which in turn sets the winding in motion. This movement induces voltages in the coil, which are added to the useful signal. The tighter the winding of the coil, the less the useful signal is distorted.)
