How to apply the cushioning material CTK Premium?

1) Degrease the surface. Inner door panels where a significant layer of grease is visible

2) Cut the damping material into pieces approx. 15x15 cm in size

3) Apply from the bottom up with an overlap of about 0.5 cm (as if you were putting bags on the roof, the water from the material will then run down to the drainage channels and will not get under the material)

4) Carefully roll out with the ➡️ CTK ROLLER

HOW TO MUTE THE CAR EFFECTIVELY?

The maximum level of soundproofing of the interior of the vehicle passenger compartment can only be achieved by a complete soundproofing (damping and soundproofing and soundproofing) of all key elements of the bodywork and interior, by installing on these elements in layers (if possible and available space) three different types of most effective materials of the highest class, in which each of them has different acoustic properties, operates in a different frequency range and plays a different role. I'm:

layer 1 - highly effective anti-vibration materials that dampen vibrations and resonances of the body elements and further isolate the interior from external noise, which are high-quality mats based on butyl, aluminum and polymers with the highest possible MLF value ( eg ➡️ CTK DOMINATOR,  ➡️ CTK PREMIUM cushioning mats, ➡️ CTK STANDARD Professional),

layer 2 - foam insulation - acoustic barriers with closed cell structure, which block the entry of road noise into the cabin and further thermally insulate the interior against excessive heating and rapid cooling (e.g. ➡️ CTK ELASTIC , ➡️ CTK ELASTIC F rubber foams, ➡️ CTK TEMPO FIX polyethylene foams),

layer 2/3 - soft and porous sound-absorbing materials with open and / or partially closed cell structure, which, in addition to the sound-absorbing properties, also play the role of shock-absorbing and damping spacers of the resonance of the plastic padding elements and reduce crackling and the creaking of these elements (eg ➡️ CTK SILENCE FIX, ➡️ CTK WAVE FIX sound-absorbing polyurethane foams, ➡️ CTK CAIMAT fleece-based sound-absorbing mats). To obtain the best road noise reduction effect, it is also recommended to install the ➡️ CTK BLOCK PRO acoustic membrane as the last third layer on the lower horizontal parts of the bodywork.

CTK PREMIUM - BEST FOR THE BEST!

CTK Premium is one of the most advanced self-adhesive anti-vibration material on the market, made on the basis of the most modern high-quality butyl rubber composite, specialized polymers and reinforcing pressed foil made of 100 micrometres (0.1 mm) blackened aluminum, which further improves the acoustic properties. This material is characterized by a very high efficiency of damping (absorbing) vibrations in a wide temperature range, high flexibility of assembly and very high viscosity and adhesion to the substrate. At the same time, in a comparable thickness range and vibration damping efficiency (MLF), CTK Premium damping mats are one of the lightest anti-vibration material of this type produced in Europe. This means that by using thinner, and thus lighter, CTK Premium series mats, you can achieve a reduction in vibration and noise at a level that would be possible with other, less technologically advanced materials with a much greater thickness and much higher weight. The CTK Premium series is also an offer of products with the widest range of thicknesses available on the market (1.8 / 2.2 / 3.0 / 4.0mm). This is an important element when planning and performing professional vehicle silencing installations. By properly selecting the thickness of the mats for their use in a specific place of the vehicle, you can most effectively use the properties of the damping material without unnecessary weight lifting of the entire installation. Thanks to this, unnecessary loading with a thicker mat of less important acoustically elements of the vehicle is avoided, while applying the most effective, thicker products in the most crucial and most important in terms of noise reduction areas of the car body. CTK vibroacoustic materials from the Premium series are uncompromising products dedicated primarily to professional installers of car audio equipment and reputable companies silencing vehicles to the most demanding customers who are willing to pay a little more for the highest efficiency, quality and comfort.

APPLICATION AND INSTALLATION

CTK Premium mats belong to the group of the most effective and the lightest anti-vibration materials available on the market. They are designed for the most effective reduction of vibration, noise and acoustic resonance of car body and car upholstery. They work very well during works whose purpose is to improve the car's cabin acoustics when assembling and using high-end car audio equipment, and when performing professional installations of general vehicle silencing. CTK Premium mats are self-adhesive, flexible and easy to apply on surfaces with a flat or complex shape. They can be installed in a wide temperature range without the need for heating, however, the highest comfort of work is obtained at an ambient temperature of + 10ºC to + 30ºC. The surface to be glued must be dry, clean and very well degreased. In order to maximize the use of damping properties, after sticking, the mat should be pressed firmly, e.g. with a roller (roller), so that it adheres exactly to the entire surface of the damped substrate, without creating a space with air bubbles. The self-adhesive butyl-polymer layer has self-vulcanizing properties, thanks to which after some time the material's adhesion to the substrate increases even more, creating an unbreakable coherent whole.

EFFECTIVENESS OF MUFFLING

When silencing a car, the desired effect is obtained by sound insulation of its interior and, above all, by significantly reducing (damping) the amplitude of mechanical vibrations of metal and plastic elements of the car body and cabin. For this purpose, elastic and slightly elastic materials (e.g. based on rubber butyl) are applied to damped elements, in the structure of which there are large losses of mechanical energy due to internal friction. As a result, the vibration energy is absorbed by the damping material and converted into heat in it. The ability of a given material to absorb energy of mechanical vibrations depends on many factors, including its design, chemical composition, weight, thickness, etc. This determines  the Mechanical Loss Factor ( MLF ), which is one of the most important parameters, which should be considered when choosing materials that reduce vibration. This factor is expressed numerically in the range of 0.00 - 1.00 for a specific frequency and temperature (the higher the MLF value, the higher the material's ability to damp vibrations). To significantly reduce noise and vibration inside the vehicle, choose materials with the highest possible mechanical loss factor. When damping car body components, the low weight of the damping material is also important, which often does not go hand-in-hand with the highest damping efficiency. Therefore, one should look for the most favorable compromise between a high value of mechanical loss factor (MLF) with low material weight and an adequate price. In the car audio industry, when damping the car doors in which the speakers will work, it is practiced to "close" the factory technological holes by sealing them with a soundproofing mat (creating a sealed speaker chamber). In these places, mats with a high MLF coefficient, moderate weight and having thicker aluminum foil ( 100 microns or more ), which provides greater rigidity and surface stability over the sealed technological holes, will work best.

HOW TO EFFECTIVELY SILENCE THE CAR?

The highest level of soundproofing the interior of the vehicle cabin can only be achieved by comprehensive soundproofing (soundproofing and acoustic isolation and soundproofing) of all key body and interior elements, assembling these elements in layers (if possible and available space) three different types of the most effective top-class materials, where each of them has different acoustic properties, operates in a different frequency range and plays a different role. They are:

  • highly effective anti-vibration materials that dampen vibrations and resonances of body elements and additionally isolate the interior from external noise - high-quality butyl, aluminum and polymer based mats with the highest possible MLF (e.g. damping mats CTK Dominator, CTK Premium, CTK Standard),
  • foam insulation - sound barriers with a closed cell structure, blocking the ingress of road noise into the interior of the cabin and additionally thermally insulating the interior against excessive heating and rapid cooling (e.g. CTK Elastic rubber foams, CTK TempoFix polyethylene foams),
  • soft, porous sound absorbing materials with the structure of open and partially closed cells, which in addition to sound-absorbing properties, also act as shock absorbers and suppression of resonance of plastic upholstery elements, and reduce creaking and creaking of these elements (e.g. CTK SilenceFix polyurethane sound absorbing foams, CTK WaveFix, silencing mats based on CTK CaiMat nonwoven, effective foams with increased density CTK SilenceMat).
