    The SMSL D400EX DAC features AKM’s all-new triple chip D/A conversion solution, which completely separates the digital and analog circuitry of the conversion process. While this is the heart and soul of SMSL’s new DAC design, it’s certainly not the only stunning achievement: full MQA decoding, 0.00005% THD+N, and a drop dead gorgeous all-aluminum chassis.

    The SMSL D400EX uses AKM’s all-new D/A conversion solution that provides sound “as if you were there”. Two AK4499EX DAC chips, in conjunction with an AK4191 DAC chip, completely separate the digital and analog circuitry of the conversion process. The analog characteristics far exceed those of the previous AK4499 D/A chip, suppressing noise and reproducing all musical information.

    A third-gen XMOS XU316 USB controller provides support for 32-bit/768kHz PCM and DSD512 transmission. With multiple low-noise regulated power supplies, the D400EX provides a stable, reliable, and low-noise system that contributes to the DAC’s incredible 0.00005% THD+N. The D400EX provides full MQA decoding, fully expanding the sound file to provide the best sound quality. At this level, you’ll hear the original sound created by the artist in the recording studio. Housed in chamfered high-grade aluminum, the D400EX looks gorgeous, while remaining utterly protected.

    Check the settings and dive into the menu using the full-color display. Protected by a fully-laminated tempered glass display panel, it provides high light transmittance that can be seen from across the room (or dimmed to suit your needs).

    The D400EX supports high-end Bluetooth codecs like LDAC, Qualcomm aptX, and aptX HD. With playback support for 24bit tracks and transmission up to 50 feet away, it’ll help you cut cords without sacrificing quality.
