High power titanium voice coil former
Large rubber surround
Large FEA optimised magnet system
Reduce nonlinear and modulation distortion
.
A 2” diameter high power titanium voice coil former with a long copper winding for excellent force transfer and transient sound reproduction. A large rubber surround together with a textile spider allow for the outstanding linear excursion of the coil while keeping it well centered at high power. These characteristics result in a very low mechanical damping for better clarity bringing up the micro details in music.
A large FEA optimised magnet system with a very big center hole through the pole piece and precisely fitted copper parts for excellent linearity, high power handling and low distortion. Below the T-shaped pole piece there is a heavy copper ring and on top, a thick aluminium ring, they both help to reduce nonlinear and modulation distortion. The stiff and stable injection moulded metal basket keeps the critical components in perfect alignment. Large windows in the basket both above and below the spider reduce sound reflection, air flow noise and cavity resonance.
The frequency responses above show measured free field sound pressure in 0, 30, and 60 degrees angle using a 22L closed box. Input 2.83 Vrms, microphone distance 0.5m, normalized to SPL 1m.The dotted line is a calculated response in infinite baffle based on the parameters given for this specific driver. The impedance is measured in free air without baffle using a 2V sine signal.
