Orkla is a three-way floorstanding loudspeaker.

Orkla is a bass reflex loudspeaker with chassis from SB Acoustics, Seas and Alcone.

The loudspeaker contains the following chassis:

- a beryllium tweeter SB Acoustics SATORI-TW29B

- a midrange speaker Seas Excel W18EX001

- a woofer Alcone AC10 HE

The crossover consists of:

- a 2nd order high pass (12 dB / octave) for the tweeter.

- a band pass consisting of a 2nd order high pass (12 dB / octave) and a 3rd order low pass (18 dB / octave) for the mid-woofer.

- a 2nd order low pass (12 dB / octave) for the woofer.

The frequency response of the loudspeaker is perfectly linear.

The decay spectrum (waterfall diagram) is exemplary without any disturbing resonance.

The non-linear distortions at low volumes (85 dB, 1 m) are below 0.2% above 500 Hz (that's excellent!) and remain below 0.5% in the audible range even at higher levels (95 dB, 1 m)

Ideal loudspeakers have a stiff membrane and no resonances. Alcone chassis have a very stiff compound aluminum membrane; their resonances are so high in the frequency range that they can be easily tamed by the crossover.

They were described in the Klang+Ton magazine, where they scored very well in terms of price/performance ratio. When we saw the first waterfall diagrams of the AC 5.25 HE, we were thrilled!

Some of our customers who value a Seas Excel have then repeatedly used Alcone chassis as loudspeakers with an excellent price/performance ratio.

Subsequent kits have an elaborate housing construction in which continuous partition walls with holes have been inserted into the box. This reduces the tendency of the wood to vibrate.

The original RCM kits that we supply are supplied with loudspeaker chassis, crossover components (which you attach to wood), with insulation material, bass reflex tube, connection terminal, internal wiring and wood screws. The kits do not contain (as usual) the wood for the case.
