List of products by brand Hypex Module Amplifiers
Hypex is a specialist supplier of plate amplifiers, power supplies, amplifier modules, and DSP solutions for the DIY audio industry. Hypex manufactures very high-performance Class D amplifiers based on world-leading NCore® and UcD® technologies.
UcD Audio Amplifiers
UcD was the product of a single engineer, Bruno Putzeys, who, in 2001, created the design of an amplifier module that could outperform any amplifier in its price range. The traditional amp types classes A and AB work by making output transistors conduct more or less current depending on the input signal. Class D is different. It works by converting the input signal into a varying train of square pulses of fixed amplitude. This technique is called pulse-width modulation. In 2005, Putzeys joined Hypex, where, in 2008, he began working on a new amplifier named NCore. Compared with UcD, it improved power efficiency somewhat, but its real achievement was lowering distortion.
Ultimate Class D Technology
Hypex UcD amplifier modules are self-contained high-performance Class D amplifiers intended for a wide range of audio applications, ranging from Public-Address systems to ultrahigh-fidelity replay systems for studio and home use. Chief distinguishing features are flat frequency response irrespective of load impedance, nearly frequency-independent distortion behaviour, and very low radiated and conducted EMI. Control is based on a phase-shift controlled self-oscillating loop, taking feedback only at the speaker output. Great examples are the UcD400HG and the UcD180HG HxR.
Hypex Ncore Technology
Ncore® is the first-class D amplifier not just to nudge the best linear amplifiers but to surpass them in every aspect relevant to sound quality. If you want the ultimate clarity, resolution, and musicality, there is no longer a reason to trade efficiency or compactness. Ncore technology combines the stability of UcD with improved load-independence, lower distortion, and lower output impedance.
Hypex NC400 Ncore Amplifier Module and Amplifier Kit
The Hypex NC400 module's audio performance sets the example and new standards, regardless of operating class or circuit technology. Thanks to the Ncore technology, it does not only offer a way for audiophile music reproduction to continue in an ever more energy conscious world, its measured and sonic performance raises the bar for audio amplifiers of any description. The Hypex NC400 is available also in kit form, which allows the module to be used in lower-end equipment. It supports a signal-to-noise ratio of 125 decibels and a switching speed of 470-530 kilohertz. Build your own high-quality class D amplifier based on the Ncore technology. This outstanding product is the Hypex NC400 Amp Kit which includes everything you need to assemble a powerful high-quality monoblock amplifier. Inside this amp kit, you will find two round NC400 PC boards modules powered by a switching power supply from Hypex, the SMPS600.
Switch-mode power supply (SMPS)
The Hypex SMPS is a high-efficiency Safety Class 2 switch mode power supply specifically designed to be used in combination with Hypex’s modules. Key features include high efficiency over the entire load range, extremely small form factor, low weight, and very low radiated and conducted EMI. Two of the most acclaimed examples of this line are the Hypex SMPS1200A400 and the Hypex SMPS400A180. They are both specially designed to be used in combination with the UcD400HG and UcD180HG HxR modules.
The Fusion amplifiers family
Hypex offers different product ranges, among others the Hypex Fusion series comprehending products like the popular Hypex FA123 Plate Amplifier and the Hypex FA501 FusionAmp Plate Amplifier. The plate amplifiers are based on Hypex’s Ncore® technology, which combined the stability of an UcD with a better ‘load-independence’, lower distortion, and lower output resistance. The Hypex Ncore® amplifiers are widely regarded as the best Class D amplifiers in the industry. Year 2020, they no longer sound ‘too steep’, ‘too direct’ or ‘too neutral’, as often argued. Moreover, they can easily compete with the sound of a traditional class A/B amplifier. The Fusion amplifiers render Class D performance available for every studio or home audio design.
