Rega Nd5 MM pickup system

The all-new Nd5 Moving Magnet cartridge system has been developed over a period of several years. The Nd range (patent pending) is, in our opinion, world-leading in its use of ultra-high performance neodymium magnets, allowing Rega to create a completely unique cartridge design.

Each Nd cartridge is meticulously hand-crafted by highly skilled Rega technicians and uses a brand new generator geometry with perfect symmetry to achieve highly precise channel balance.

Inspired by the design of the highly successful MC systems, the housings of the new Nd cartridges are made from glass-fibre reinforced polyphenylene sulphide (PPS). The most important feature here is the lightweight and highly rigid material with zero tolerance. The low weight of the cartridge reduces the load on the tonearm bearing and thus enables perfect tracking of your record.

Each Nd system also features an optimised pole gap for superior linearity and crosstalk characteristics. They are fitted with miniaturised parallel coils wound internally with 38 micron wire and only 1275 turns. This results in low cartridge inductance and impedance and features greatly improved high frequency response. The Nd5 aluminium cantilever is fitted with a precise, perfectly elliptical nude diamond stylus. This profile provides exceptional tracking accuracy and extracts more detail from the vinyl surface. The unique pivot pad design between the stylus body of the Rega cartridges greatly improves tracking capabilities.
