The task was to develop the ultimate line filter for audio and video devices that would outperform all standard passive filters available on the market and perfectly match the high quality of the cable and pickup products.

With ultimate performance and reliability in mind, the filter has been designed from the ground up using the highest quality components.

The result, the BLACK HOLE from van den Hul, is a powerful four-output passive line filter whose core design is based on completely new technologies and concepts.

The BLACK HOLE offers high-end audio, video and mixed setups with perfectly clean mains power, can handle a total connected load of up to 1800 watts and is equipped with four individually noise-isolated sockets: two sockets for power amplifiers and other heavy loads and two Sockets for preamplifiers, CD and DVD players, LCD TVs, etc.

The BLACK HOLE acts as the most conceivable external firewall solution and effectively handles all potential network-related A/V quality degradation mechanisms.

The Black Hole reduces network noise and spikes, removes DC current and provides high frequency isolation from the network. The ultimate performance is also achieved through an advanced circuit design that is resonance-free and adds our unique DNA (Dynamic Noise Absorption) concept.

The background:

Audio and video signal quality is constantly at risk due to the ever-increasing electromagnetic interference in our environment.

There are two main ways such interference can corrupt your audio and video signals:

Along the power supply: The mains power supply is damaged by noise, spikes and transients caused by switching devices, motors, non-linear loads (such as switching power supplies, e.g. in computers), as well as dimmed and fluorescent lights, connected to the large power transformer, which Your neighborhood powered.

Airborne: Electromagnetic (radio frequency) interference from radio and television stations, wireless computing devices, cell phones, etc.

The number of countermeasures taken against such interference in audio and video equipment varies greatly between brands and types, and both routes of noise entry are not always adequately addressed. Generally, it only takes a more “vulnerable” component in your A/V chain to receive or forward such interference, resulting in loss of transparency of audio or video signals.
