Bass reflex enclosures are a special form of speaker enclosures for woofers and subwoofers. With such a box, the housing is not closed, but provided with an opening - the bass reflex channel. The sound radiated from the rear of the speaker is used to "amplify" the bass response. The duct, in conjunction with the internal volume, acts like a resonator and increases the efficiency of the speaker in the range of the speaker's built-in resonant frequency.

Audio System uses this benefit of a bass reflex enclosure with the Audio System HX 10 SQ BR and thus offers an optimally matched enclosure for the HX 12 SQ 10" subwoofer.
